Cap Size Guide

Find your size

The right size for your cap, beanie or hat mainly depends on your head circumference. You can measure it yourself in just a few seconds and then compare it with our size chart.

Sizes and fits can vary slightly by brand, material and style. Always follow the specific sizing information on the relevant product page.

How to measure your head circumference

The easiest way to measure your head circumference is with a flexible tape measure. Make sure it follows the line where your cap or hat will sit.

1 Position the tape measure

Place the tape around the widest part of the back of your head and bring it across your forehead, roughly through the centre.

2 Measure comfortably

The tape should sit snugly against your head without digging in or being too loose.

3 Read your measurement

Your measurement in centimetres is your head circumference. Compare it with the size chart below.

No tape measure handy?
Use a piece of string or a narrow ribbon instead. Wrap it around your head in the same way, mark where the ends meet and measure the length with a ruler or folding rule.

Size & fit

Not every style uses the same sizing system. Here are the main differences at a glance.

One Size / Single size

One Size or single size means that a style is offered in just one size. However, not every one-size style fits the same range of head circumferences.

Depending on the style, stretchy materials or an adjustable closure allow the headwear to accommodate different head sizes. This includes many snapback, strapback and other adjustable caps.

The actual size range varies by style. If a specific head circumference is provided, you'll find it on the product page.

Fitted Caps & Stretch-Fit Caps

Fitted caps have no adjustable closure. Traditional fitted styles come in fixed sizes, for example US sizes such as 7, 7 1/4 or 7 1/2. An accurately measured head circumference is especially important here.

Stretch-fit styles also have a closed back, but their stretchy materials allow them to fit within a certain size range. They are therefore often offered in sizes such as S/M or L/XL .

For both types, always check the specific size details of the individual product first.

International sizes such as S, M, L and XL

Some brands use international size labels such as S, M, L or XL. You can also use your head circumference to find the right size.

As the fit can vary between brands, always check the information on the relevant product page as well.

What if you're between two sizes?

If your head circumference falls between two available fixed sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger size to avoid an overly tight fit.

Stretchy or adjustable styles usually offer more flexibility. Always take the product's specific size and fit details into account.

Frequently asked questions about sizing

Where exactly should I measure my head?

Run the tape around the widest part of the back of your head and approximately across the middle of your forehead. It should follow the line where your cap or hat will sit.

How tightly should I measure?

The tape should touch your head without digging in or applying pressure. Measuring too tightly may lead you to choose a size that is too small.

Is One Size the same for every product?

No. The fit range depends on the style, material and fastening system. Always check the specific sizing information on the product page, even for one-size items.

Does this size chart also apply to beanies and hats?

Head circumference is also the key guide for beanies and hats. However, the actual fit can vary with the shape, material and construction of the product.

Why do sizes differ between brands?

Brands sometimes use different sizing systems, cuts and materials. This means the same labelled size can fit slightly differently across styles. If in doubt, follow the specific sizing details on the product page.
