New Era 59FIFTY – the fitted cap with a fixed size

The 59FIFTY is New Era's fitted cap: six panels, a straight flat brim, completely closed at the back. No closure, no adjusting – you buy it in your size. At CapUniverse you'll find it with licences from MLB, NFL and NBA.

59FIFTY, 9FIFTY, 9FORTY or 39THIRTY – the difference

New Era names its caps after the closure, not the design. Here's the lineup in one line each:

• 59FIFTY – fitted, fixed size, closed at the back, flat brim. The original from MLB.
• 9FIFTY – snapback with a press-stud, one size. Mostly flat brim, with a handful of stretch-snap models coming curved.
• 9FORTY – adjustable and one size, mostly via press-stud, but also with a buckle or hook-and-loop strap. Almost always curved brim.
• 39THIRTY – stretch fit, elastic, curved brim, in size ranges like S/M and M/L.

In short: the brim follows the series, the closure doesn't always. If you want an exact fit, go for the 59FIFTY. If you want to stay flexible, go for the 9FIFTY or 9FORTY. Fitted models from other brands can be found under Fitted Caps.

The best-selling 59FIFTY – from twelve months of orders

1. Black on Black Yankees – number one, all black on black.
2. Blank Cap – the logo-free version, right behind it.

Two patterns stand out here. Black clearly beats every other colour. And MLB licences run well ahead of NFL and NBA – the NY logo of the New York Yankees is the classic among fitteds.

Finding your size – 6 7/8 to 8 in inches

The 59FIFTY doesn't come in one size, but in US inch sizes from 6 7/8 to 8. Each step between sizes is roughly one centimetre, with 7 1/8 corresponding to about 57.7 cm. Measure your head circumference just above your ears and match the value to the centimetre figure in the size chart. If you're in between, go for the larger size – a fitted won't give.

Leave the flat brim or bend it?

Straight out of the box, the 59FIFTY comes with a flat brim and a sticker on it. Whether the sticker stays on is purely a matter of taste – you can find the background in the guide Why people leave stickers on caps. You can carefully bend the brim if you prefer the curved look.

Order on a weekday before 2 pm and delivery can be as soon as the next working day, otherwise within 1–3 working days. From €70 order value, we cover the shipping costs. We deliver to Germany, the EU and Switzerland. And because a fitted doesn't give you a second chance to adjust it: 100 days to return it, no reason needed.
